Zenith ZS-6000 U Satellite Receiver

This receiver features C-Band and Ku-Band reception, up to 36 programmable satellites, built-in videocipher decoder, UHF remote with adjustable range, Dynamic Noise Reduction, up to 30 programmable favorite programs, the ability to parentally lock out up to 10 channels on various satellites and stereo audio from videocipher channels.

HOW TO PROGRAM A SATELLITE

1. Go to a satellite that is near the satellite to be programmed and has the same polarity.

2. Select a channel that is active on the satellite that is to be programmed and on the satellite that you are starting from.

3. On the front of the receiver: Slide the NORMAL switch to the left or into the satellite memory position.   (Caution-there are a several switches in the same area, do not confuse this switch with one of the other switches that has an normal setting on the switch.  The correct switch to move has three settings and the switch should be in the center to begin.)

4. Use left/right arrows to scroll through the satellites to see if the satellite is already programmed. Stop when the correct name is on the display. If the name is not in the list then press LETTER and then NUMBER to name the satellite.

5. Tap EAST or WEST in the proper direction until a different picture or black screen appears.

*Possible problem- You are picking up the satellites with the opposite format, then press POL one time and continue moving east or west until a picture or black screen appears.

6. Verify that the picture is correct. If it is, then go to step 7. Otherwise, continue moving east or west until the correct satellite is found.

7. Verify the correct name is still on the display. If so, press STORE on the front of the receiver and a square will flash on the screen and on the display to indicate storage. If not, then rename the satellite and press STORE.

8. Move the NORMAL switch back to the center position.

 

HOW TO ERASE A SATELLITE

1. Move the NORMAL switch to the left or into the satellite memory position.

2. Press INDEX repeatedly until the correct satellite name to be erased is displayed. You do not have to be on the satellite to erase it.

3. Press the Satellite Memory CANCEL. The satellite name will flash indicating that it is ready to be deleted.

4. If this is the correct satellite to be deleted, then press Satellite Memory CANCEL again.

5. Move the NORMAL switch back to the center position.

 

PARENTAL SECURITY

The parental lock is controlled by the remote control and there is no password. The remote control needs to be secured or hidden if the parental locked out channels are not to be viewed. This means if you do not have the remote and the parental lock is, on then you cannot use the receiver to see the channels that are locked out.

 
To view all the channels in the lockout list

1. Move the PAR SEC switch on the front of the receiver to the STORE position.

2. Press INDEX repeatedly to scroll through the channels in the lockout list.

3. Move the PAR SEC switch on the front of the receiver to the NORM position when finished.

To turn on/off the parental lock

1. Press the PS ON to turn the lock on. When the lock is on the satellite dish cannot be moved. The channels that are in the lockout list will be black with no audio. The screen will display “Par Sec On” momentarily.

2. Press PS OFF to turn the lock off. All channels will be accessible.

The screen will display “Par Sec On” momentarily.

To add a channel to the lockout list (up to ten channels)

1. Press PS OFF.

2. Move the PAR SEC switch on the front of the receiver to the STORE position. The screen will display “P/S NOT PRGM” if the channel is not already in the lockout list.

3. If the correct satellite name is not on the display, use LETTER and NUMBER to select it. The dish does not have to move to the satellite.

4. Use channel up/down to select the correct channel.

5. Press PS ON to store the channel. A square will flash on the screen and on the display to indicate storage.

6. Repeat steps 3-5 for additional channels.

7. Move the PAR SEC switch on the front of the receiver to the NORM position.

 

To delete a channel from the lockout list

1. Press PS OFF.

2. Move to the satellite and channel that has the lock on it

3. Move the PAR SEC switch on the front of the receiver to the STORE position. The screen will display “P/S PRGM” since the channel is already in the lockout list.

4. Press PS OFF and the screen will display “P/S NOT PRGM”.

5. Move the PAR SEC switch back to the NORM position.

 

HOW TO CHANGE SATELLITES

1. Press LETTER and then NUMBER and it will move to the satellite.

OR

1. Press LETTER and then immediately press EAST or WEST to scroll through the satellites in the direction pressed. When you stop on the satellite that you want it will move to that satellite.
