Zenith ZS-7000 XL Satellite Receiver

This receiver features C-Band/Ku-Band compatibility, dual LNB compatibility, on-screen menus, UHF remote with adjustable range, up to 200 (100 video, 100 audio) programmable favorite programs, 4 event timer and the ability to parentally lock out up to 10 channels on various satellites.  It also features Zenith Automatic Peaking (ZAP), built in bandpass TI control, up to 3 hour sleep timer and stereo audio from videocipher channels.

HOW TO PROGRAM A SATELLITE

1. Go to a nearby satellite with the same format as the satellite to be programmed.

2. Select a channel that will be active on the current satellite and on the satellite to be programmed.

3. Enter Program Mode: Press MENU.  Use UP/DOWN ARROWS to select Setup Menu, press ENTER.  It will ask for a 4-digit code, enter 7-0-0-0, then ENTER if necessary.

Use UP/DOWN ARROWS to select Satellite Locations, press ENTER.

Use UP/DOWN ARROWS to select Add Satellite, press ENTER.

4. Name the satellite: If necessary, use left/right arrows to get the letter of the satellite blinking, press the letter of the satellite to be programmed, then press right arrow one time to get the number blinking and then press the number of the satellite.

5. Follow the proper procedure:

-If you are starting from a satellite with the same format, then tap EAST or WEST until a different picture or black screen appears.

-If you are starting from a satellite with the opposite format, then tap EAST or WEST until the picture is gone, then reverse the format. To reverse the format: Use LEFT/RIGHT ARROWS to select the Format on the screen. Use up/down arrows to switch from V to H or H to V, then continue tapping east or west until a picture appears.

6. Verify that the picture is the correct satellite, if it is then go to step 7, otherwise continue moving east or west until a different picture or black screen appears. Use CHANNEL UP/DOWN to change channels if necessary. Use ZAP to autopeak the picture, if necessary. If you use ZAP, then you must do an odd and an even channel.

7. Store the satellite:

Press and hold ENTER for at least 2 seconds. The screen may display “Stored” or may return to the previous menu to signify storage.

8. Press CANCEL, then press ON/OFF to exit the menus.

 

HOW TO ERASE A SATELLITE

3. Enter Program Mode: Press MENU.  Use UP/DOWN ARROWS to select Setup Menu, press ENTER.  It will ask for a 4-digit code, enter 7-0-0-0, then ENTER if necessary.

Use UP/DOWN ARROWS to select Satellite Locations, press ENTER.

Use UP/DOWN ARROWS to select Remove Satellite, press ENTER.

2. Use UP/DOWN ARROWS to scroll through the satellites until desired satellite is on screen.

3. Press ENTER for at least two seconds to delete.

4. Press ON/OFF to exit the menus.

 

  PARENTAL SECURITY (LOCK)

The parental lock is controlled by the remote control and there is no password. The remote control needs to be secured or hidden if the parental locked out channels are not to be viewed. This means if you do not have the remote and the parental lock is on, then you cannot use the receiver to see the channels that are locked out.

3. Enter Program Mode: Press MENU.  Use UP/DOWN ARROWS to select Setup Menu, press ENTER.  It will ask for a 4-digit code, enter 7-0-0-0, then ENTER if necessary.

Use UP/DOWN ARROWS to select Add/Delete Parental, press ENTER.

 

To add a channel to the lockout list (up to ten channels total)

2. Use LEFT/RIGHT ARROWS to select Add Satellite, press ENTER.

3. Use UP/DOWN ARROWS to select the satellite the channel is on.

4. Use Channel up/down to select the channel to be added to the list.

5. Press ENTER for at least two (2) seconds to add the channel.

6. Repeat steps 3-5 for additional channels

7. Press CANCEL for the previous menu.

8. Press ON/OFF to exit the menus.

 

To delete a channel from the lockout list

You can also see which channels are in the list in the Delete Parental submenu.

2. Use LEFT/RIGHT ARROWS to select Delete Satellite, press ENTER.

3. Use UP/DOWN ARROWS to scroll through the channels in the list

4. Stop on the correct channel to be deleted.

5. Press ENTER for at least two (2) seconds to delete the channel.

6. Repeat steps 3-5 for additional channels

7. Press CANCEL for the previous menu.

8. Press ON/OFF to exit the menus.

 

To turn the Parental Control on/off

1. Press MENU.

2. Select Parental Control On/Off with UP/DOWN ARROWS.

3. Press ENTER.

4. Enter a 4-digit password with the number buttons.

5. The lock should turn off or on.

6. Press CANCEL to exit the menus.

 

HOW TO CHANGE SATELLITES

1. Press SAT then the letter and number of the satellite.

1. Press SAT then EAST or WEST to scroll through the satellite names in that direction.
