Mail Troubleshooting Guide

Yes, I specified an IP address to that client computer. What next?

Confirm that under TCP/IP settings for the client computer's network card 'Gateway' is configured correctly.  Since an IP address was specified to that client computer it must have a gateway address.  The gateway address being OrbitNet internal IP address.

OrbitNet Internal IP Address: The IP address OrbitNet uses to listen for connection requests from other computers on your local network.  This value should be set to the IP address directly connected to the internal network.

To make sure that the client computer has been assigned the correct 'Gateway' information you will need to if using:-

  • Windows 95/98
    1. Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Network.
    2. Highlight TCP/IP for the client computer's network card and click on Properties.
    3. Click on the 'Gateway' tab and look in the box labeled 'Installed gateways'.

  • Windows NT
    1. Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Network -> Protocols -> TCP/IP Protocol -> Properties.
    2. From the drop-down box, select the client computer's network card and look in the box labeled 'Default Gateway'.

  • Macintosh
    1. Click on Apple Menu -> Control Panels -> TCP/IP.
    2. Look at the IP address next to the title 'Router Address'.
