New Installation On An Existing Network

There are two ways to install OrbitNet 3.0 on an existing network.  The main difference between these two methods is the utilization of the DHCP feature within OrbitNet 3.0.

NOTE

You must have a basic network.  For this description, we are assuming several things about your local setup.

  1. You already have your computers connects with a working Ethernet network, either several networked through a hub, or two back-to-back with a cross over cable.
  2. One of the computers has a modem or other internet connection connected to it- this will be one that gets the OrbitNet installation.  Only one computer will have OrbitNet installation.  Only one computer will have OrbitNet installed.
  3. You already have some network protocols installed- probably NetBEUI- and your computers have already have NetBIOS names.  The NetBIOS name of each computer can be found at Control Panel => Network => Identification => Computer Name.
